With over 4,210 acres of both natural chapparal-covered terrain and landscaped parkland and picnic areas, Griffith Park is one of the largest municipal parks with urban wilderness areas in the United States. Griffith Park is home to dozens of varieties of recreational opportunities, including hiking and horseback riding trails, picnic areas, soccer, tennis, and baseball fields, fitness zones, dog parks, a senior center, pools, and playgrounds. The regional park is also home to the Griffith Observatory, Los Angeles Zoo, Gene Autry Museum of the American West, Travel Town Museum, Los Angeles Live Steamers Railroad Museum, Greek Theatre, Friendship Auditorium and Los Feliz Nursery School.
